A19 witnesses five-mile-long traffic jams near Easington after trucks’ collision

Following reports of a collision on the busy route, the A19 was closed this morning, Wednesday, October 5, and commuters were forced to experience significant delays.

The northbound side from the A1086 to A182 near Easington in England was closed due to an accident between two trucks on October 5, as per media reports. Following the incident, the route's traffic was earlier stopped, with National Highways reporting five-mile-long traffic jams that seriously hampered travel. Emergency services were also made available, according to the reports.


A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said that the police were informed about to the accident on the A19 in the vicinity of Easington around 7:50 this morning.

He added that fortunately, no one was hurt, and both of the affected trucks are being towed and drivers are also requested to find an alternate route and stay clear of this region because the road is expected to stay blocked till further notice.

On the northbound A19, between the A181 (Castle Eden Interchange) and A182 Hall Walks, significant delays of around 31 minutes could be seen, as per the reports.
