Mobile pizza company finds permanent home in former Bangor bank
A family who have run a mobile pizza truck for the past decade have finally acquired a more permanent base. Jones' Pizza Co has been operating at locations in North Wales since 2012. The company, owned and run by husband and wife duo Richard and Charlotte Jones. is best known for its food truck which sets up outside Yr Alex in Caernarfon every Friday, with extra visits on Saturdays during the winter season, having previously been operating at Llyn Gwynant campsite for the better part of the last decade.
But now the couple have acquired a former cafe in Upper Bangor, Gwynedd, which they plan to transform into a new home for themselves with an 80/90s inspired theme. The former bank on the end of Collage Road most recently served as the cafe Clena, before that moved into the venue of the old Greek pub a few doors down. The couple, who have two young children, say the pizzeria will focus on offering their wide range of Neapolitan pizzas, while the food truck will continue to offer them in Caernarfon every Friday night.

"The fact that is was an old bank as well was ideal for us, it gives the building lots of character you wouldn't get elsewhere.
We plan to rebrand a little for the location, as we're looking at an 80/90s inspired theme for the pizzeria."The site was most recently Clena who moved to the Greek, but has gone by several names prior in the last decade. (Image: Google Maps)
"Obviously the focus will remain on our pizzas as we are always working on improving our product, working with pizza is a constant learning curve that is always growing and changing. It helps to obsess over it a little bit, as we're always working towards creating the perfect Naples inspired pizza." They hope the new business will also benefit the area as well, saying "I used to go the Options cafe there as a kid, so we really want to do our bit for Bangor with our new business."
Have you tried any of Jones Pizza Co pizzas? Let us know in the comments. The new pizzeria will face stiff competition from the age old staple of Pizza House which sits just across the road, though Richard is confident what they're offering will be able to separate them from the pack. "There's a bit of work to do yet though" he explains, "The current plan being to open the new pizzeria early next year, but before then there is a fair bit to be done, including renovating the building, getting the pizza oven in and start training all the staff.
"We're pulling out all the stops for the business, as it's essential to get it right."
