Lorry gets STUCK under Scots railway bridge sparking travel chaos

A LORRY has got stuck under a railway bridge in Edinburgh this afternoon. Work is underway to recover the stricken vehicle at Cameron Toll roundabout in the Prestonfield area of the city.

The long HGV was spotted wedged beneath the bridge and leaning on its side. The incident happened around 12.15pm and police closed off the road.

It is not yet known if the driver or anyone else was injured in the incident. Traffic along the A7 Old Dalkeith Road has been affected as work is carried out to recover the lorry. It is unclear how long the busy road will remain closed for.

Locals fumed on social media, with some complaining that similar incidents happen frequently.

On Reddit, one person commented: "It's blocking the east bridge so if you're heading towards the infirmary from the city centre you might want to take a different route."

Another person wrote: "This happens too often. I'm sure they fitted sensors to alert high vehicles too." A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a vehicle striking a railway bridge in Cameron Toll, Edinburgh around 12.15pm on Wednesday, 28 September, 2022.

"Emergency services attended and the road was fully reopened around 3.30pm."
