Charges Pending After Multi-Vehicle Pileup in Downtown Tunnel in Norfolk, Virginia

Sixteen vehicles were involved in a pileup in the Downtown Tunnel in Norfolk, Virginia, on August 28, after a speeding vehicle's bumper detached causing a chain reaction crash, WTKR reported citing Virginia State Police. Police told WTKR that the loose bumper forced following cars to slam on their brakes causing the pileup on the eastbound I-264 shortly before 1 am. Three were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to police.

The investigation was ongoing with multiple charges pending, police told 13NewsNow.
