Two rushed to hospital after devastating lorry and car smash
Dramatic pictures have emerged of a serious crash between a car and a lorry which has seen a major A road shut for several hours. Police rushed to the scene of the smash on the A647 Sands Bed in Queensbury, near Bradford, at 10.37pm on Wednesday night following reports of a two-vehicle crash between a car and a HGV. A police cordon was put in place with firefighters and officers also spotted at the scene.
The road remains closed as of 9am this morning with police carrying out accident investigation work. West Yorkshire Police have since confirmed that two people have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries, which are not beleived to be life-threatening. A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
A spokesman for the force said: "At 10.37pm last night officers were called to Brighouse Road in Queensbury to reports of a two vehicle collision between a car and lorry. "Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries not believed to be life threatening. "A 23 year old man who was the driver in the car was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide.
He's been bailed pending further enquiries."
